Students of university college of health studies, set up allied to the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital when Dullas Alahapperuma was the youth affairs minister, have been left stranded.

Each student had been charged Rs. 250,000 for the course, whose director is Dr. Sudath Damsinghe, who contested elections on the SLFP ticket.

He still continues to receive a Rs. 300,000 allowance as the course director.

The course has been abandoned, but the students are yet to be refunded.

President Maithripala Sirisena was also present at the commencement of the course, in 2013.
