The affiliate, known as one Janaki Amarasinghe, is said to be close to former minister Basil Rajapaksa and his wife - Pushpa Rajapaksa.

The building has been constructed by the Foundation in a building owned by the Rajasinghe Kanishta Vidyalaya.

Residents say that the building was also fitted with lightning protection systems at the expense of the Disaster Management ministry during Basil's tenure as minister.

However, a secretary of the present government is attempting to lease the building to the above mentioned Janaki, reports add.
