‘They will call for courts’ closures too’

‘They will call for courts’ closures too’ Featured

A closing down of the FCID merely because certain opposition MPs demand so is like shutting down courts to prevent capital punishment, says UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana.

Those who are not in the wrong should not fear any commission, he says, noting that any accused can take the incumbent prime minister as an example as to how he got absolved at Batalanda commission.

The FCID is an independent institution that properly investigates serious financial crime and it has received a large number of complaints, he notes.

People elected the present government to investigate, not cover up, the massive crimes, says Pathirana.

The FCID should continue under future governments too, he adds.
