The CC also took a decision to take disciplinary action against any member found to have criticized the party and its leadership.

Chaired by party leader, president Maithripala Sirisena, the SLFP CC also adopted a proposal that party MPs that have not joined the government should follow the party’s decisions, in parliament.

Accordingly, it rejected a call by the joint opposition to allow it to function independently in parliament.
