The CHR was condemning the damage done to a signboard fixed in front of the home of Attorney-At-Law Vijitha P. Punchihewa, who is representing the aggrieved party of the murder case of Sumith Prasanna from Embilipitiya.

The CHR considers this as a direct intimidation levelled against the lawyer, who is also the secretary of the Lawyers collective in Embilipitiya.

Although intimidations levelled against the judiciary had fallen under the present government, harassment by the police is continuing, the CHR adds.
