Report on disappeared to be handed over to Al-Hussein Featured

The relatives of those who were disappeared decided to stage an attention drawn protest demanding the recovery of their loved ones ahead of the visit of Al-Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Council, to Jaffna.

This protest is going to be staged in front of the Nallur temple and at the entrance of Jaffna District Secretariat. This protest is going to be stage demanding the themes of revealing the whereabouts of those were disappeared and proving solution for this issue.

Discussion regarding this has been held at “Thirumarai Kala Manram” under the leadership of Gajendrakumar Ponnampalam, the leader of Tamil National People's Front.

Meanwhile, a report urging the release of those who were disappeared is going to be handed over to Al-Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Council, to Jaffna, according to the relatives of those who were disappeared.

Al-Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Council, will come to Sri Lanka today in order to examine the investigative mechanism.

Al-Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Council will commence his visit to Sri Lanka today. This prime intention of his visit is to examine the investigative mechanism into war crimes committed in Sri Lanka.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Council will hold talks with government and opposition party as well. In addition, he will hold talks with the representatives of civil society.

The most important part of the visit of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Council is visiting to Northern Province. He will go to Jaffna and observe the situation prevailing there.

He will also discuss about the just seeking mechanisms intended to provide justice to the victims of Human Rights Violations.

Then, he will return back to Colombo where he will meet the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, it will be discussed regarding the issue of enforced disappearances, judicial process and investigative mechanism.

Meanwhile, he will meet TNA members including opposition leader Sampanthan and other Tamil representatives to discuss with regard to the investigative mechanism.
