According to sources from the Navy, Yoshitha was summoned to the Navy headquarters around 10.30 this morning for questioning and was arrested by the FCID after obtaining a statement.

He was subsequently produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate court.

In addition, four others were ordered to be held in remand custody after being produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate court.

They are namely former CEO of the CSN Channel - Nishantha Ranatunga and former Director Board members of the channel - Rohan Weliwita, R.A. Fernando and Kavishan Fernando.

Shiranthi, Namal, Basil arrives :

Several family members of Yoshitha Rajapaksa had arrived at the Kaduwela Magistrate court when the latter was brought in, reports say.

Yoshitha's mother - Shiranthi Rajapaksa, his eldest brother - MP Namal Rajapaksa and his uncle - former minister Basil Rajapaksa was present.

Security was beefed up around the court premises.

More arrests in the offing?

Meanwhile, MP Namal Rajapaksa, the elder brother of Yoshitha, says that certain ministers have warned them that their family members could be arrested.

He adds that even their own father - Mahinda Rajapaksa, had urged him and his brothers to be prepared for such a possibility.
