The TRC says that several individuals have received such messages from overseas numbers and this is a scam.

After receiving several complaints on this regard, the TRC has also initiated measures to block such numbers and all police stations islandwide have been briefed on this regard.

A poster campaign on this regard will be launched soon to create greater awareness, it adds.

The TRC further says that any queries on this regard can be posed to the hotline 1900.
