The Lanka IOC earns a monthly profit of Rs. 460 million, and the CPC Rs. 920 million from the sale of fuel, says JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

At today’s world market oil prices, a petrol litre costs Rs. 42.46 at unloading at the port, while the cost for diesel is Rs. 32.08 per litre, he said.

However, petrol is sold at Rs. 117 per litre and diesel Rs. 95 per litre.

The taxes amount to Rs. 30, said Dissanayake, adding that both Lanka IOC and CPC earn profits of Rs. 65 and Rs. 53 from petrol and diesel respectively.

The monthly sale of fuel amounts of 40 million litres, according to him.
