Arumugam gobbles up 40 buses! Featured

Former cabinet minister Arumugam Thondaman has allegedly sold 40 TATA City Rider buses worth Rs. 80 million and donated by the Indian government for use by estate workers.

The buses were handed over in 2008 pursuant to a request from the then Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh, and were reportedly registered to Annai Kothai Enterpremier Company (G. Ltd).

This company was started to the name of Arumugam’s grandmother, and its present directors are his daughter Kothai Nachiyar and Vani Sivalingam, daughter of CWC former strongman Muttu Sivalingam.

Although the buses had been given for use by the labourers, they are being used for family trips, political work and rented for weddings and funerals.

Following a post-review, the Indian high commission has found out the truth.
