MR's son behind car crash

MR's son behind car crash Featured

It is revealed that a son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had owned the vehicle involved in a car crash in Baseline Road, Narahenpita on May 01, 2014.

The vehicle, a Ford Mustang with no number plates, was travelling at high speed before injuring a youth in a trishaw after colliding with it.

It is said that the media was banned from reporting the incident back then.

Soon after the accident, STF personnel had arrived at the scene and taken the car away, and social media had cited back then that this was done even before the injured youth was hospitalised.

It was later revealed that the car was taken to a garage in Kaduwela even without taking it to a police station.

Although it was not revealed as to why police had not seized this vehicle, it was spotted by many while being driven by the Rajapaksa sons after closing the road leading upto the Galle Face during nightfall.

It is said that the car was also spotted during the CSN night races.

Concealed!
It is learnt that the car is presently concealed at a vehicle yard in Kaduwela in a tactical manner.

According to sources, the Rajapaksas have kept their vehicles with trustworthy caretakers rather than registering them under their name. Accordingly, the 'owner' of this particular Ford Mustang is said to be registered under a company involved in bringing down vehicles from the USA before repairing and selling them.

The owner is an Australian and the vehicle has been granted to the Rajapaksas as a gift in order to allow them to conduct their business in peace.

It is rumoured that the businessman had even gifted the Rajapaksa family a Hummer H2 and that it was later sold to a doctor close to the Rajapaksa family for Rs. 45 million.

Bokundara vehicle

The issue had arisen yet again after the new government had come to power, after a Nissan GTR was discovered with changed number plates.

It is said that this car too, was identified as a car used by the Rajapaksa sons for racing.
