'Sinidu Sudu Mudu Thalawe' , the event organized to appreciate the great contribution made to Sri Lankan music by Somadasa Elvitigala, was held yesterday (14) at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) and President Maithripala Sirisena has attended it without taking any security measures prior to his arrival.

Despite having a large crowd present at the event nobody has been checked for security threats, which has received appreciation of the public.

The President has been present at the event for an hour.

During the tenure of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa three wheelers were not allowed inside the BMICH premises if he is attending an event at the location.However, there had been no such obstacles yesterday.

Speaking to our reporter, some three wheeler drivers have mentioned that this is Maithri's change.

Several songs composed by Somadasa Elvitigala were sung at the event which was coloured by the dances of Manahara Dance Institute.

The Chairman of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) attorney -at- law Nanda Muruththetuwegama presented the magazine and CD comprising of songs composed by Somadasa Elvitigala to President Maithripala Sirisena at the event.

The cheque gifted by SLBC was presented to the wife of Somadasa Elvitigala by the President and the Chairman of Somadasa Elvitigala Fund Siril Wickramage was also present at the special occasion.

Nearly 1000 individuals were gathered for the event which comprised of singers as well as other invited artists.
