The celebration was held the Bishop’s House, Colombo under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Gnanartha Pradeepaya is the official publication of the Colombo Archdiocese. The publication, which commenced on June 07, 1866, is currently a 24-page paper distributed nationally.

At the event, a mini documentary titled 'Inexhaustible Oli Lamp' was screened. The documentary was directed by Thilina Alahakoon (Press Director of Gnanartha Pradeepaya) and scripted by Shiran Maithri (Deputy Editor of Gnanartha Pradeepaya)
