AG silent over recommendation to arrest Hirunika

AG silent over recommendation to arrest Hirunika Featured

Solicitor general Suhada Gamlath and senior advocates have recommended that MP Hirunika Premachandra be arrested in connection with the abduction of a person at Dematagoda, noting that there was enough cause to do so, reports say.

They have sent a file containing their recommendation to the attorney general, but that official is delaying giving the order to police for her arrest.

Eight bodyguards of the MP were arrested over the abduction, were identified at an identification parade, and were released on bail.

There is opinion that the Defender jeep used by the abductors belonging to Premachandra and the abducted person produced before her are enough reason to arrest her.

The AG has asked television channels to provide him with the CDs containing a media briefing held by the MP over the abduction.

Attempts to speak to solicitor general Gamlath for a comment were unsuccessful, Ravaya reports.
