After the media revealed that Aponso’s office was sealed and an internal inquiry against him was underway, Ranatungas are now demanding Aponso to issue a statement to deny everything.
Sealing of office confirmed
JVP-affiliate port workers union’s president Chandrasiri Mahagamage told the media today that the office had been sealed alleging a financial irregularity, which is not the real reason.
He suspected that Aponso, also president of the public services cricket association, has come under pressure from minister Ranatunga.
Mahagamage stressed to the minister that he should resolve cricket-related disputes outside the SLPA.

Action will be taken against the sealing of the office, he said, adding that Ranatunga cannot be allowed to play cricket at the port.
Mahagamage went onto say that a cricket incident has been made an issue at a time when the port’s handling capacity has suffered considerably.
Several other port union leaders told Sri Lanka Mirror on condition of anonymity that Ranatungas’ having pressurized Aponso to issue a statement to deny everything was a Rajapaksa-style lowly act.
Many such incidents had taken place during the Rajapaksa regime, they said, that adding such incidents under ‘good governance’ should be condemned.
