The CID has found the footage from the Narahenpita and Kirulapone junctions.
The university’s report to the Colombo magistrate’s court said that with the facilities available, the footage could not be analysed properly.
It contains images of a vehicle, but its number plate or the passengers are indistinguishable, it said.
The footage should be sent to the FBI in the US or Scotland Yard in England, the report has recommended.
Thajudeen’s body was found from his burnt car at Park Road near Shalika grounds in Narahenpita on 17 May 2012.
Rajitha’s claim
However, cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne had been telling the media the CID had possessed footage that would turn the political world upside down, as it showed Thajudeen being beaten up and killed, and went onto say that members of a VVIP family were to be arrested on suspicion.
The CID responded by saying that no such footage was available with them, and asked him to submit such footage, if available, to him.
Thereafter, the minister said that a friend of his had told him about the existence of such footage.
