The CID has decided to investigate these instances.
Deputy foreign affairs minister Harsha de Silva says those trying to incite racial hatred in this manner should be brought before the law.
They should not be allowed to continue with such acts, he says in a posting in his facebook page.
The minister says officials have been sent to investigate, adding that such acts will harm unity among communities.
Social media too, has condemned, saying this will pave the way for racism in the country once again.
A senior official at the presidential secretariat told Sri Lanka Mirror that they believed a group loyal to ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa was behind this.
The president has directed intelligence officials to investigate and report to him, said the official.
