Rajapaksa has told V FM that his policy was to work according to wishes of the people.

He has gone onto say that the SLFP has not broken into factions.

The elder brother of the former president has responded to weekend newspaper reports that he has agreed to fully support president Sirisena.

The president has appointed him co-chairman of the district development committee, with powers of a minister, to take decisions with regard to Hambantota district.

That appointment has been coordinated by minister Mahinda Amaraweera.

The constitution does not allow the appointment of any more ministers.
