Chairman of the Kolonnawa Urban Council Ravindra Udaya Shantha has been remanded till January 04 for allegedly assaulting a group of people during a protest against a garbage dump site in Meethotamulla.
The Chairman was remanded when he was produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate.
The police have launched an investigation to identify the group of people who had allegedly attacked residents of Meethotamulla while they were protesting against the garbage dump on December 27.
