He said that around 500 extra buses were deployed between Dec. 21 - 31 and transport services were provided for a large number of commuters from Dec 23 onwards.

He added that an income of over Rs. 109 million was garnered from highways during the festive season.

Changes in 2016
Several changes are to be implemented in the SLTB during 2016, reports say.

Among the changes will be issuing ticket machines for all depots, using technology to fix logistic reports, introducing a software system and developing infrastructure facilities of depots, the Transport ministry says.
