He was speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror' over the charges faced by MP Hirunika Premachandra over her alleged connection to an abduction of a youth.

Noting that politicians taking the law to their own hands was a terrible wrongdoing, MP Marikkar said that the Wellampitiya police has bested murderers and drug lords in the area and no violent incidents were reported from the electorate during the last two elections.

During a time when peace and law prevails in the Kolonnawa electorate, this incident is a black mark not only to the electorate but to the entire government, he added.

MPs should be present not to engage in drug businesses, murders and abductions, he said adding that the law should be the same for everyone and it would be well for Hirunika to work according to the law.
