Its president N.K. Jayawardena said their talks with the finance minister with regard to the prices increases of certain essential commodities had failed.

Previously, the association has warned about price increases in bakery products due to the increase in the NBT to four per cent.

With the finance minister agreeing to discuss the matter, the increase was suspended, but since the talks ended in failure, prices will have to be increased, said Jayawardena.
