No permission for Sajin to go abroad

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has rejected an application filed by former UPFA MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena to go abroad.

The application was rejected when the case was taken up for hearing today (03).

However, last October, the Magistrate allowed Gunawardena, whose passport was earlier seized, to go to Singapore for medical treatments.

The Colombo High Court in September granted bail to Gunawardena who was in custody for allegedly misusing vehicles belonging to the President Secretariat Office.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoned Gunawardena to record a statement on May 11, where he was subsequently arrested. The former MP was also on bail in a separate case filed by the Bribery Commission for non-declaration of his assets.
