Moving an adjournment motion in Parliament, the JVP leader charged that Kumarage has obtained 38,500MT of paddy at a price of Rs. 38.50 per kilo from the Paddy Marketing Board and sold it at a price of Rs. 42 per kilo.
Dissanayake questioned how Kumarage obtained paddy from the Paddy Marketing Board even when he does not own a single rice mill or is not linked to the paddy industry.
He said that there are only five main rice mills in Sri Lanka, namely Araliya, New Rathna, Hiru, Nipuna and Menaka.
Although the alleges were to be responded to on Nov. 24, it was done only on Nov. 27 by Galle District MP - Wijepala Hettiarachchi and Divulapitiya MP - Edward Gunesekera.
