Speaking to Sri Lanka Mirror, he questioned as to why King Dutugemunu had built a tomb for King Elara.
Whether the past is good or bad, it would be best for the social mentality to allow that past to be remembered.
Various persons are defining and distorting the past as they wish, and there is no reliable source to study history, said the human rights activist.
This could be a problem for the future, and should be dealt with intelligently without going to extremes, he added.
Remembering the dead
TNA councilor M.K. Sivajilingam says the Mahaveer Day will be marked today (27).
Christians can light a candle, while the Hindus will go to kovil to remember the dead, he said.
A pooja will take place at Nallur Kovil in their remembrance, while kovils in the north and the south will hold similar remembrances, said Sivajilingam.
