The actual number of the infected, caused due to insecure sexual relationships, could be much higher than number on record, he says.

Dr. Liyanage was speaking at a media seminar in Colombo yesterday (24) in view of World AIDS Day on December 01.

He asked anyone who thinks that he/she has had insecure sex to get examined at the nearest state hospital’s STD clinic.

Both examination and treatment are free of charge.

If proper treatment is obtained, an HIV positive person could last a normal life without becoming an AIDS patient, he said.
