The magistrate was taking up a case on the attack on Aluth Parapura artistes during a performance titled ‘Mulawen Midemu’ at Kumbukgete town.

The petitioners, Samanali Fonseka and other artistes, agreed for a settlement, according to which the accused were to hold a media briefing to tender an apology.

However, the warrant has now been issued against the PC member over a statement he had given to a newspaper and over his absence at the hearing.

Police sought permission to include fresh pictures and videos as evidence.

The next hearing has been fixed for January 28.
