A woman, aged 42 years, and her two children, who had gone missing in August 2009, have been returned to their home in Mullaitivu on October 26 by unidentified persons, the visiting UN working group on enforced or involuntary disappearances has been told.

According to reports, the woman is the wife of an LTTE leader for Mullaitivu.

The 26-member UN delegation is in the island to report to the government on enforced or involuntary disappearances.

They met with foreign affairs minister on November 10 and had a meeting with civil society representatives on the following day.

Head of the Centre for Policy Alternatives Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu said civil society representatives explained to the UN group about the missing persons as well as the present economic and other aspects of the lives of their families.
