TNA says they have faith in Maithri Featured

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says they have faith that common candidate Maithripala Sirisena would abolish executive presidency, should he come to power.

Speaking to BBC Sandeshaya, TNA leader - R. Sampanthan has said that their party would soon decide as to whether they would back former minister Sirisena.

Noting that he is convinced that MP Sirisena's ideas expressed on television were provable, Sampanthan has added that he was rather impressed by the political task which was elaborated.

Meanwhile, speaking to BBC Tamil Service, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) - Hasan Ali has said that their party is yet to decide on whom to support at the forthcoming presidential election.

He has added that discussions on this regard would be held with the government as well as with the allied opposition.

Ali has further added that although he appreciated Maithripala Sirisena's pledge to abolish executive presidency,  he was more keen on learning Sirisena's stance with regard to issues faced by minorities.
