Earlier, the complaint lodged with the PRECIFAC on this regard had alleged that Mr. Rajapaksa owes the ITN over Rs. 100 million in return for broadcasting his campaign adverts during the presidential election.
Speaking at a session of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRECIFAC), ITN Chief Internal Auditor - Manjula Alagiyawanna had reportedly admitted that Rs. 96.7 million has been calculated wrongly.
Free advertisements as well as advertisements which were given discounts have all been calculated as those published under full advertising rates, he had said.
The PRECIFAC panel ordered lawyers to speak with Mr. Alagiyawanna on this regard and learn further details.
The figures over the alleged non-payment of bills by Mahinda Rajapaksa to the state-owned ITN is found to be contradicting, reports say.
