150 vehicles of ministers, missing!

At the recent Cabinet meeting, it has been revealed that 621 vehicles granted to ministers and MPs of the Rajapaksa government are yet to be returned with 150 vehicles of the figure deemed missing.

The government has ordered police to immediately seize such vehicles, minister of parliament reforms and mass media - Gayantha Karunatillake said.

The minister was speaking during the Cabinet briefing held at the Information Department yesterday (22).

On the orders of the incumbent President, around 126 vehicles of the Presidential secretariat were distributed among other ministries and this has saved a staggering Rs. 100 million on a monthly basis, the minister added.

Lands seized with military might
Also, the Cabinet has decided to obtain a report with regard to charges that private lands in the Southern region including Colombo were seized during the previous regime by imposing unnecessary military pressures.
