SLC attempts to safeguard alleged Indian player Featured

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Executive Committee has vehemently protested as the report on a member of Indian cricket team, who visited Sri Lanka in the year 2010 in connection with the Asia Cup matches and was alleged of match fixing and betting, was not issued.

The preliminary investigations had revealed that a girl visited the room of an Indian player and remained in the room till 4.00 AM when the Indian team was participating in the matches held in Dambulla.

Earlier it was reported that former Major General Lawrence Fernando who was in charge of the security of the Indian team had informed relevant SLC divisions regarding this incident and that the CCTV footage confirmed his statement.

Though a report was compiled in order to investigate this incident, there had been no word on as to what happened to it.

SLC Executive Committee is alleging the SLC of sweeping the report under the carpet as urged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The player involved in this incident is Indian batsman Suresh Raina.
