Half of war widows mentally stressed

Half of war widows mentally stressed Featured

Around half of the wives of soldiers who died in the war are suffering from mental stress, a survey has found.

FOKUS Women Sri Lanka carried out the survey, which shows these widows had tried to commit suicide following the death of their husbands.

Also, widows of dead LTTE members fear for their families, as they are under threat from armed and unknown groups, it shows.

They are exposed to sexual abuse too, especially in the northern province.
