Strong evidence against Seya’s killer

The Minuwangoda magistrate will receive today (13) two DNA reports in connection with investigations into the murder of the girl Seya Sadevmi of Kotadeniyawa.

The reports are those of Saman Jayalath, the brother of the first suspect, Kondaya, and the girl’s father, who agreed for a test at CID’s request.

Previously, three DNA tests were conducted, those of the schoolboy aged 17 years, the 33-year-old father of one and Kondaya.

None of them match with the samples taken from the body of Seya.

The magistrate called for a DNA report of Jayalath after he made a confession, and accordingly he appeared for the test on October 06.

Strong evidence

Meanwhile, police headquarters sources say strong evidence has been found that establishes Jayalath had murdered the girl.

He had raped and tortured the girl, before killing her, and then tried to escape by blaming it all on his brother Kondaya.

He is also said to have served a nearly six year prison term over several crimes.
