They are Panditha Gedara Shantha Subhasinghe, Pathirana Bandara Priyantha Kumara, D. Dhanushka Pushpakumara and Kobige Ralage Gedara Dhanushka Priyalal Ratnayake.

They had been accused and found guilty of raping two women at Vishvamadu in Mullaitivu on 06 June 2010.

The soldiers had been sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay Rs. 500,000 each for the rape of a 27 year old mother of two.

Also, they were sentenced to five years in prison and fined Rs. 100,000 each for the abuse of a mother of five, aged 37.

Announcing his ruling, the judge said this crime, committed after the war, was an insult to the dignity of the Army.
