Six of them are accused of trying to revive the LTTE, while the other four were arrested while trying to go to Australia by boat.

One of them, Maheswaran Thangavel, said they had abandoned a previous fast, last month, after a promise by Q branch and other officials to grant them freedom.

The deadline to fulfill that promise had expired yesterday, forcing them to resume their protest, he added.
