In a statement, the SLWJA chairman - Lasantha Ruhunage questions whether looking into the media association offices is a new style of media censorship initiated by the government.

Noting that the SLWJA is an independent association established in Sri Lanka, Mr. Ruhunage added that it was not a state institute.

He also questioned how the media minister was empowered to look into the affairs of a journalists' association office.
