He was released on bail a few days ago after being in remand custody for several months over some serious charges.

 

Gunawardena is to be interrogated over certain serious acts of fraud and corruption that had taken place during the previous Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.

 

Meanwhile, ‘Sathhanda’ reports that the former MP and confidante of Rajapaksa has agreed to become a state witness, or accomplice, 

 

He has confessed to many irregularities and fraud committed by the Rajapaksas, and based on that, statements are to be obtained from Lalith Weeratunga, Gamini Senaratne, P.B. Jayasundara and several leading businessmen close to the Rajapaksas.
