Speaking to heads of media institutions at Temple Trees this afternoon (27), prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the commission could be chaired by a lay person.

Members of this commission would be chosen by a committee comprising the Mahanayake Theras, the Cardinal and Hindu and Muslim religious leaders.

In addition, the government has proposed the setting up of a secretariat and a legal office to inquire into missing persons, said the prime minister.
