The CID informed Colombo additional magistrate Nishantha Peiris yesterday (22) that five of the body samples taken at Thujudeen’s first postmortem examination are unaccounted for.
One of the examiners, Dr. Rajaguru, has placed his observations and has instructed the chief JMO, now retired, Dr. Ananda Samarasekara to safe-keep them in a deep freezer.
The ex-CJMO has not returned the x-rays of these samples, which were neither found from any deep freezer, said JMO Dr. Ajith Tennakoon, who has informed the CID in writing about it.
The JMO has written to the director of the CID, asking that the x-rays and the body samples be made available for the examiners tasked with carrying out another postmortem examination into the exhumed body of Thajudeen.
Dr. Tennakoon has said that the final postmortem examination report could be prepared after a full examination of the x-rays and the body samples.
Considering the submissions, the additional magistrate ordered ex-CJMO Dr. Samaraseraka to handover the said evidence to Dr. Tennakoon.
