The findings have been unearthed during excavations done in the Lunugalgeya area, Illukkumbura, Balangoda, Prof. Somadewa says.

Stone tools as well as tools used to make stone tools have been found.

The lower levels of the cave have found much animal remains. However, the upper levels contained less animal remains which hinted that man had turned towards plant forms of food.

The time durations of these findings are still being determined, Prof. Somadewa said.
