There had been number of incidents where while accompanying politicians and their wives police officers enter devalayas and Kiri Vehera carrying the items needed for rituals such as bottles of coconut oil, incense sticks and pooja watti.
Following is a photograph captured by Lankadeepa photographer which shows the police officers who are assigned for the protection of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Mayor Dhanasiri Amaratunga carrying pooja watti, as the mayor visited the Kataragama Devalaya.
