Gunawardena stands accused of having assaulted a UNP supporter who had opposed illegal posters of his wife during the parliamentary polls.

Prison officials informed Gampaha magistrate Tikiri Jayatilake that the suspect would not be produced before courts, as he was warded at Ragama Hospital.

The hospital’s JMO informed the court that a report on the medical condition of Gunawardena would be submitted soon.
