The case was taken up by a bench comprising Chief Justice K. Sripavan and Judges Eva Wanasundare and Upali Abeyratne.

However, the bench granted leave to proceed with the Fundamental Rights petition filed by Alles, seeking an order preventing Police from arresting him in connection with the alleged fraud.

The case will be taken up again on Oct. 19.
