Rs. 24 m loss due to Railways restaurant closure Featured

The Railways Department is incurring a Rs. 24.6 million loss, in addition to inconveniencing railway passengers, due to the closure of the restaurant at the Fort railway station, the railway employees union says.

On April 02, the management closed the restaurant that has been earning a monthly income of Rs. 4.1 m.

The union brought this to the attention of the then highways minister Ranjith Maddumabandara in a letter dated May 18.
