No offence transpired against KP: AG

The Attorney General today informed the Appeal Court that so far no offence has transpired against Kumaran Padmanadan (KP) in respect of the report examined by him on the writ petition filed by the JVP.

The Attorney General (AG) further told Court that the AG’s Department is yet to examine other allegations levelled against KP and sought a further date to file a report.

Accordingly, the writ petition was fixed for October 28 by Judge Vijitha Malalgoda.

In his petition, JVP MP Vijitha Herath alleged that KP had been involved in 193 serious incidents including procuring arms to the LTTE and money laundering.

He sought an order directing the authorities to take legal action against KP and to arrest him.
