How Fonseka failed to be national list MP! Featured

Democratic Party leader, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who was defeated at the parliamentary election, has made an attempt to secure a national list position from the UPFA.

President Maithripala Sirisena has agreed to a request by Fonseka in this regard, which he had made during a meeting with him, along with another DP member.

According to that, after parliament is convened, a UPFA national list MP wsa to resign, paving the way for Fonseka to get appointed.

Malith Jayatilake was to be the one who had to resign, but he has refused, saying that a person like him would not relinquish this once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Had he been appointed, Fonseka would have been offered a ministerial position, Sathhanda reports.
