Three ministers of the new government, who are due to depart for Geneva to attend international conferences, took their oaths today (24).

They are Mangala Samaraweera as foreign affairs minister, Wijedasa Rajapkse as the justice minister and D.M. Swaminathan as the rehabilitation minister.

The swearing in of the rest of the ministers is due for tomorrow.

Another reason for Samaraweera’s swearing in early is the visit of US assistant secretary of state Nisha Biswal tomorrow.
