All factions of the SLFP have reached consensus to empower president Maithripala Sirisena to take decisions about the national list, pursuant to their agreement for a national government.

The national list dispute began after UPFA general secretary Susil Premajayantha was replaced a few days before the parliamentary polls.

His acting replacement Prof. Vishwa Warnapala said he should be the signatory to the national list document, but Premajayantha insisted he was still the general secretary.
