Addressing the press briefing held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel today (19) the Executive Director of PAFFREL, Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that all should appreciate the Election Commissioner for implementing the election laws, which were formed to ensure a peaceful election, using the power vested on him by the 19th amendment.

During the election campaigning period there were 1323 cases of election law violations but they were minor offenses, he has said.

He has also requested the government to direct its attention to introduce a special method for individuals who are unable to reach the polling stations including people with disabilities to cast their vote.
